Government approves the National Plan of Action of Peruvian Coffee 2019 - 2030
To improve the competitiveness and social and environmental sustainability of the coffee value chain.
The Executive Branch approved the National Plan of Action of Peruvian Coffee 2019-2030, which was prepared within the framework of the 2015-2021 Multiannual Sectorial Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (PESEM Minagri-2015) to improve competitiveness and social sustainability and Environmental value chain of coffee.
The Supreme Decree published today in the official newspaper El Peruano details that the Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation of Policies of the General Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation of Minagri will supervise at the level of product and outcome indicators, and at the level of the plan as a whole .
The objective of this plan is that, by 2030, Peru be a producer, exporter and consumer country of quality sustainable coffee adapted to climate change, recognized worldwide for its innovation, competitiveness and a solid institutionality that directly benefits families coffee growers and the set of actors.
And as a mission, the Executive proposes that the Peruvian coffee sector work in a committed and articulated manner with the public and private sector to improve production, profitability and quality with sustainable and low-emission technology, conserving forests, enhancing diversity productive, social and financial inclusion and livelihoods of coffee families.
Specific objectives
- Increase the average productivity of coffee nationwide.
- Improve the quality of Peruvian coffee destined for the export market.
- Facilitate access to financial services for coffee production activity.
- Improve the positioning and commercialization of Peruvian coffee.
- Improve the processes of articulation of Minagri, Regional Government and Local Government in public investment in the coffee chain.
- Strengthen the governance and institutionality of coffee activity.
